March 27, 2020 - NIA SKIMO continues the operation and maintenance of irrigation facilities despite the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. The series of desilting activities have been conducted as scheduled in preparation for the water release on May 1, 2020, in LAMRIS and TACIS Areas. These activities were collaborative efforts of the farmer-beneficiaries, IA Members and this agency.
On March 18 to 20, 2020 a desilting activity and drainage excavation was done at the area of Madanding IA Lateral I sta 1+240 – sta 2+260 located in Brgy. Madanding, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat facilitated by SWRFT Engr Henry Dimaano and IA President Mr. Jody Tomias.
On March 22, 2020, desilting activity was completed at Lambayong RIS Silt Basin 1 while silt basin 2 is still on-going.
The same activity was conducted on March 24, 2020, at the area of BAHE IA at Lateral A sta 3+800 to 4+100 located in New Lagao, Tacurong City facilitated by SWRFT Mr. Julie Parcon and IA President Rolando Puedan.
On March 25, 2020, there were canal excavations and desilting activities conducted in the area of Grino IA at Ramcor supply canal sta 1+200 to sta 1+750 located in Brgy Grino, Tacurong City facilitated by SWRFT Mr. Parcon and IA President Mr. Esmael Bisnar.
And earlier today, there is an on-going desilting at the area of BUCATILL IA Lateral A sta 4+100 to sta 5+200 located in Brgy Buenaflor, Tacurong City facilitated by SWRFT Mr. Parcon and IA President Mr. Juanito Guira.
The implementation of these activities is under the supervision of the Operations and Maintenance Chief Engr Jasmin P. Malicad and in close coordination and monitoring by the NIA SKIMO Head, Division Manager A Engr. Flora May D. Respicio.
NIA SKIMO will continue to lead and facilitate the irrigation needs of farmers albeit Provincial Government’s declaration of Enhanced Community Quarantine in light of the Coronavirus outbreak.
